
Clint Whitten, PhD, is a postdoctoral associate at Virginia Tech focusing in youth enrichment opportunities, community organizing, and rural education. He is the coeditor of Rural Education and Queer Identities: Rural and (Out)Rooted (2025). He is a former middle school English, creative writing, and theatre teacher who spent his childhood roaming farms in Southside, Virginia. In is graduate studies, he was selected to receive the K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award, given annually to outstanding graduate students who demonstrate exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education, and he was invited to join the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society.
