Jennifer Kirsch is an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at East Tennessee State University. She received her PhD in counselor education and supervision from Virginia Tech, her MEd in marriage and family counseling from the College of William and Mary, and her BSEd in elementary education from the University of Georgia. Dr. Kirsch is a former elementary school teacher and community-based counselor with over a decade of experience working in rural and suburban areas with children and adults across the developmental spectrum, having received numerous trainings in advanced, specialized modalities of trauma-based counseling approaches. She conducts research and writes about the various degrees of COVID-19 impact on counselor wellness and professional quality of life; the use of trauma-informed practices by rural school counselors; and, most recently, the connections between sexual attitudes and wellness among counselors-in-training, counseling supervisors, and counselor educators. Dr. Kirsch serves on various institutional and local committees and has association memberships that focus on the advancement of wellness, sexual education and wellness, and counselor development. Dr. Kirsch has presented at local, national, and international conferences. When not engaging in academics, research or service, Dr. Kirsch enjoys baking, traveling, and watching UGA football in the fall.
