Rachelle Kuehl, PhD, is a research scientist for the Center for Rural Education and School of Education at Virginia Tech. Her work in literacy education and rural education has been published in Journal of Literacy Research, Research in the Teaching of English, Theory and Practice in Rural Education, English Journal, Journal of Children’s Literature, The Reading Teacher, and more. Her work explores the influence of whiteness on students’ experiences in U.S. schools and examines ways to disrupt and dismantle those systems through critical literacy and antiracist pedagogies.
